This turtle can be found in countries of central Asia, such as Iran, Afghanistan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Pakistan and so forth. It inhabits dry lands and sand or clay deserts with occasional patches of grass or shrub. These creatures hibernate in winter and forage until mid-June. The Russian Tortoise shelters in burrows at the hottest time of the day.
