Red Eared Slider Turtles can be found in ponds, rivers and lakes with rich aquatic vegetation. They spend most of their time in water and only get onto the dry land to lay eggs or bask in the sun. The smooth carapace features distinctive yellow bars. There is a red patch behind the eyes. These turtles can reproduce three times per year, clutches ranging between 4 and 23 eggs.
