Prairie King Snake

Before purchasing a prairie king snake from a farm, ask to see the photos of the foundation stock. It eats rodents, birds, and small serpents. It is immune to the venom of the rattlesnake and the copperhead, which it kills by constriction. The scarlet type serpent (L. doliata) has a pattern of black, red, and yellow bands similar to that of the unrelated coral serpent. Before purchasing a prairie king snake from a farm, ask to see the photos of the foundation stock.
